CASA Flight Instructor Rating Training
Advanced Aviation Training delivers CASA Flight Instructor Rating training using the standard CASA syllabus and training requirements applicable to the rating. The course develops the instructional knowledge, briefing techniques, flight demonstration skills and practical teaching ability required to begin instructing in a professional flight training environment.
Where practical, AAT conducts instructor training with groups of two or more candidates. Candidates can complete common ground briefings and instructional preparation together, allowing the cost of briefing time to be shared while still receiving individual flight training and assessment. This approach helps keep the overall cost of instructor training down while providing the added benefit of learning from other instructor candidates throughout the course.
Training is structured around the candidate’s existing experience and progress, with an emphasis on developing the ability to teach, demonstrate, observe, assess and provide effective feedback rather than simply learning to perform the flying exercises.

RAAus Flight Instructor Rating Training
Advanced Aviation Training also provides RAAus Flight Instructor training for pilots progressing into recreational aviation instruction. The course develops the instructional skills, briefing techniques, flight demonstration standards and practical teaching ability required to train pilots within the RAAus system.
AAT also offers a combined CASA and RAAus instructor training pathway, allowing suitable candidates to work towards both instructor qualifications within one coordinated training program. Where the training requirements overlap, common instructional knowledge, briefing techniques and practical teaching skills can be developed together, reducing unnecessary duplication and creating a more efficient pathway for pilots who intend to instruct in both CASA and RAAus operations.
The combined program is particularly useful for instructors who want broader employment flexibility, allowing them to work across both recreational and general aviation training environments once the relevant requirements and assessments for each qualification have been completed.

Instructor Endorsements & Upgrades
Advanced Aviation Training provides instructor endorsement training and instructor upgrades for qualified instructors who are expanding their instructional privileges or progressing to a higher instructor grade.
For CASA instructors, AAT can provide training towards applicable training endorsements and Grade upgrades, including progression from Grade 3 through to Grade 2 and Grade 1 where eligibility requirements are met. Training is tailored to the instructor’s existing experience and focuses on developing higher-level instructional technique, supervision, assessment, decision-making and instructional standardisation.
For RAAus instructors, AAT also supports instructor upgrades and additional instructional privileges, helping instructors progress their qualifications and broaden the range of training they are able to conduct.
Because many instructor privileges depend on previous experience, flight time and regulatory prerequisites, AAT can review an instructor’s current qualifications and recommend the most appropriate pathway for their next endorsement or upgrade.
